Tech Center will soon be able to offer service to even more customers

A recently completed renovation of the Tech Center will soon allow us to increase the capacity of public accessible computers from 18 to 26. We should have the new computers set up and in service sometime around the beginning of November.

Welcome to the Tech Center!
The Tech Center at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library is an open use lab with 18 public computers available. Patrons wishing to use a computer must bring a valid WTCPL library card with them. All of our public computers feature 17 inch monitors, CD R/RW drives, USB Capabilities, Windows XP SP2, and the Microsoft Office 2003 suite featuring Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Publisher and Access. The public computers have headphones installed. Printing is available from all of our computers at a cost of $0.10 per page for black and white prints and $0.25 per page for color prints. Some computers may have additional equipment installed such as a DVD drive, Zip drive, or software to assist the visually imparred.
The tech center is staffed and can help with basic computer instruction or questions. Patrons are limited to two (2) one hour sessions per day Monday through Saturday and one (1) one hour session on Sunday. Reservations for a computer may be made up to one day in advance but are not necessary.
The tech center currently offers two (2) computer instructional classes open to anyone regardless of prior computer knowledge. Class number one is an Introduction to Computers class. During this 90 minute class, you will learn about the parts of a computer (hardware), types of removable storage, the Windows based operating system, Windows terminology, and the basics of using a mouse. Class number two is an Introduction to the Internet class. During this 90 minute class, you will learn about the types of home internet connections available, the basics about Uniform Resource Locators (URLs or Web Addresses), how to use a search engine, and email basics. The tech center houses a collection of Warren Tribune Chronicle newspapers on Microfilm from September 9, 1891 to today and the Wall Street Journal Newspaper on Microfilm from January 1967 to today. Microfilm copies are available for $0.10.
