Brookfield Library to Reopen May 30, 2023
(05/09/2023) – The Brookfield Branch of the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 7032 Grove St., will reopen to the public at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30, after being closed since late December when a water pipe in the building ruptured during extremely cold temperatures.
Water from the leak caused significant damage to some of the drywall, furnishings, equipment, and carpeting in the library. Computers, printers, the circulation desk, and some shelving also needed to be replaced.
The majority of the books and other library materials were not damaged and were moved to an off-site location for safe-keeping during the clean-up and repairs in the library.
Warren-Trumbull County Public Library Executive Director Jim Wilkins said the project progressed according to schedule, and most of the new furniture and equipment that had to be ordered will soon be in place.
“We regret the inconvenience we know this unexpected closure has caused our patrons,” Wilkins said. “We have made some changes to the plumbing structure in the building to help ensure a similar rupture will be prevented in the future.”
Design features of the newly renovated library include a spacious checkout desk, bright new carpeting, welcoming tables and chairs, and improved lighting.
“We are excited about some of the updates we have been able to add to the library during this process, and we hope our patrons will enjoy the library’s fresh new look,” Wilkins said.
The Brookfield Library will return to its former hours of 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday; 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. on Wednesday; and closed on Sunday.
