DONATIONS FUND NEW OUTDOOR CHILDREN’S AREA AT THE LIBERTY LIBRARY; RIBBON-CUTTING AUGUST 31

(August 19, 2019) – Children who visit the Liberty Library can play and learn in a new enclosed outdoor area dedicated to the memory of a longtime library patron.

Construction of “Jan’s Corner” began in mid-August 2019 at the Liberty Library, located at 415 Churchill-Hubbard Rd. in Youngstown. The community is invited to a ribbon cutting for the new area on Saturday, August 31, 2019, at 3 p.m. at the library.

“Jan’s Corner” is being funded by the Janet Miller Casey Memorial Endowment and by private donations.

Mrs. Casey regularly attended library storytimes with her grandchildren for many years and also enjoyed reading and gardening. “Jan’s Corner” will provide a welcoming outdoor area for the many children and families who visit the library.

The enclosed 1,233 square-foot space on the east side of the library will have a walkway leading to bronze fencing with brick columns and will have flowering landscaping, a picnic table, and two benches. Children will be able to play on a sensory path, hopscotch pavers, and a chalk pad.

Construction and landscaping are by Applegate Furniture, Sharon Fence, Swing On! Playsets, and Ultimate Landscaping.
