Mobile Library Services to Relocate to Cortland Location

(04/09/20) – The Warren-Trumbull County Public Library has purchased property at 2184 Niles-Cortland Road in Cortland to relocate its Mobile Library Services Department from the Warren Library location to a stand-alone facility.

The library system in February announced plans for an expansion project at the Warren Library, 444 Mahoning Ave. NW. Moving the Mobile Library Services Department will free up valuable space, giving greater flexibility in reconfiguring the Warren location when the renovation/addition work begins.

The library’s Bookmobile, Homebound, and Outreach services and the materials collections for those services will be relocated to the new location. Nine staff members will work at the facility.

The Mobile Library Services building will not be open to the public.

The building will need minor renovations, and a garage for the Bookmobile will be built, according to Library Director Jim Wilkins.

“The move makes good sense,” said Wilkins. “Most of the Bookmobile routes head toward the northern tier of the county, so this location will be more efficient in terms of on-road time. The location is also convenient to the Route 82 bypass.”

Wilkins added, “We had looked for a suitable location to re-home this department in the past but were never able to find the right building. This opportunity came up unexpectedly, and our board of trustees felt it was the right time to take action.”

The 5,000-square foot building is the former Bell Construction building.
