Summer Reading & Learning Program

May 30 – July 29, 2023

Children, teens, and adults can all participate in the library’s FREE Summer Reading & Learning Program at W-TCPL locations, on the Bookmobile, and through READSquared, our online option.

This year’s theme is “All Together Now,” and a variety of storytimes and special events throughout the summer invite us to share fun learning experiences, work together to help the community, and encourage kindness and unity.

Two Ways To Participate:

1. Printed Summer Reading & Learning Program forms

To participate using printed paper reading forms, simply stop by a W-TCPL location or visit the Bookmobile to pick up your reading log or entry slip; start reading, and then bring your completed form back to your library location.

2. Online through READSquared

READSquared is an online tool that offers an easy option for children, teens, and adults who would like to virtually participate in the Summer Reading Program. Simply visit WTCPL.READSQUARED.COM to get started. It is free to create a personal account in READSquared to record reading activities, track progress, and even earn digital badges to celebrate summer reading. Then, just stop in at any W-TCPL location to collect your prizes!

For Children

It is especially important for children to keep reading over the summer months so they can maintain their reading level when school resumes in the fall. The library’s Summer Reading & Learning Program can provide a fun incentive to help keep children motivated to keep reading!

Children ages 3 – 12 can participate in a Summer Reading & Learning Challenge Bingo game! Pick up a Reading & Learning Challenge BINGO form at a W-TCPL location or, to participate online, visit WTCPL.READSQUARED.COM.

Each child who registers for the Summer Reading & Learning Program will receive a free themed button!

Kids who register and log their reading activities online can visit a W-TCPL location to pick up their button and their prizes.

Children’s Prizes

Children ages 3 to 12 can earn prizes for reading at home and keeping track of their reading with a Reading & Learning Bingo sheet or the online option. Kids complete activities in five boxes in a row (Read for 20 Minutes, Read or Write a Poem, etc.) to get a BINGO.

  • Get at least 1 BINGO to win a toy prize!
  • Get at least 2 BINGOs to win a book prize!
  • Get 3, 4, or 5 BINGOs to get an entry for the Grand Prize gift card drawing!

For Babies and Toddlers

The Tadpole Club is a Summer Reading Program specially for younger children up to age 3. Parents and caregivers can share literacy-based activities with little ones for a prize!

Pick up a Tadpole Club reading activity log at a W-TCPL location or, for the online option, visit WTCPL.READSQUARED.COM.

For Teens

Teens entering grades 7 – 12 can pick up a Summer Challenge BINGO game sheet at a W-TCPL location or complete the challenge entirely online. Teens can try new things and read to receive a prize pack, an entry into the Grand Prize Drawing, and an invitation to the After Hours Event! Complete more BINGOs for more chances at the Grand Prize!

For the online option, visit WTCPL.READSQUARED.COM. It is free to create a personal account in READSquared to record reading activities, track progress, and earn digital badges.

For Adults

Adults ages 18+ can also participate in Summer Reading!

Stop by a W-TCPL location and pick up a Summer Reading Book Review slip. When you finish reading (or listening to) a book, jot down a brief summary or review of what you read and bring the slip back to the library to be entered in a drawing for prizes!

Each review slip you enter gives you one entry for a prize drawing.

For the Community

For every children’s and teen reading log completed in the library’s 2023 Summer Reading & Learning Program, $1 will be donated to the Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County by the Friends of the Warren Library. Help us reach our goal of 1,000 completed logs!
