W-TCPL Welcomes New Deputy Director

(10/19/2021) – The Warren-Trumbull County Public Library (W-TCPL) has named Kimberly Garrett of Howland as the library’s deputy director.

Garrett replaces Jan Vaughn, who is retiring after nearly 24 years with the library system.

“We are excited to have someone with Kim’s skills and expertise take on this important role,” said Jim Wilkins, W-TCPL Executive Director. “She brings broad experience with libraries in Trumbull County, and we are confident that she will help us as we continue to build upon our commitment to providing needed materials and services for our community.”

Garrett comes to the W-TCPL after having served as director at the Kinsman Free Public Library since 2016. Prior to that position, she was Youth Services manager at McKinley Memorial Library for six years. She has been active in professional organizations and recently served as president of the Northeast Ohio Regional Library System Board of Trustees.

Garrett holds a Master of Library and Information Science from Kent State University and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Professional Writing and Editing from Youngstown State University.

“I am both honored and excited to join the WTCPL team. I have always admired and respected this organization for the wonderful programs, collections and resources it provides to the various local communities it serves. Now I get to be a part of that momentum, and I am looking forward to this opportunity,” Garrett said. “I am ready to hit the ground running to do my very best to connect the residents of Warren and Trumbull County with exceptional library services.”

The W-TCPL includes libraries in Brookfield, Cortland, Howland, Liberty, Lordstown, and Warren; a Bookmobile; and Library-By-Mail service.
